"Cat-Tails 1&2" were made after spending a week at our camp in Vermont. The fields along Route 2 in the Champlain Islands were full of cattails. They were swaying in the breeze and looked as if they were dancing. Cattails are plentiful throughout Vermont. They inhabit the marshly, wet or swampy land and grow along the roadsides from the damp ditches. When I was a child my mom liked to pick Cattails to cry and place in a very large vase, which actually is a very old milk barrel. To this day, I love cattails and it was alot of fun to make these 2 quilts. The quilting consists of alot of smooth wavy lines, which represents the gentle dance, as they were swaying from the breeze blowing off of the lake. | |
